Pump Components
MTC Stourport has extensive experience in manufacturing precision ground technical ceramic components for water circulating pumps and industrial pump applications. For over 40 years MTC Stourport has been working with leading pump manufacturers such as Grundfos A/S.
MTC Stourport ceramic pump components are playing a key role in supporting climate-friendly solutions.
The use of ceramics is allowing manufactures to meet stringent EuP energy directive of minimum efficiency requirements, which imply that only A-rated circulator pumps are allowed to be sold in the EU starting from 2013. The exceptional properties ceramic offers also provide electric and hybrid vehicles with the pump technology necessary to circulate aggressive coolant through the Lithium-Ion batteries. Just a few examples of how MTC is helping to reduce CO2 emissions.
Technical ceramics advantages:
- Maintenance free operation for pump life in excess of 15 years
- Extreme resistance to wear during high speed rotation (>3,000rpm) in abrasive fluids
- Shaft/bearing clearances to <=40μm to ensure minimal pump running noise
- Exceptional corrosion resistance in aqueous based pumping applications
- Low toxicity
Materials for pump applications
96% & 99.5% Alumina, Zirconia, Silicon Carbide
Future requirements
With the Increasing pump demands especially in terms of improving energy efficiencies, pump designers are requiring additional complex features on ceramic components and tighter geometric tolerances. MTC is rising to these challenges to facilitate new pump designs and motor assemblies.
