Products

Our facility has specialist departments dedicated to products using new and innovative technologies.

However, we also focus upon:

Dry Pressing

Dry pressing involves the bi-directional compaction of ceramic spray dried powder and is generally used in high volume applications requiring complex geometry and high tolerances (typically +/- 1% above 10mm and +/-0.1mm below 10mm). With mechanical presses of between 2 and 100 tonnes we are able to produce components in a wide range of sizes and materials.

Iso-static Pressing

Typically used for cylindrical components, iso-static pressing is the omni-directional compaction of ceramic powder in a flexible mould. Due to our advanced on-site material production we can produce iso-pressed parts in almost all of the materials used for dry pressing. Our expertise in this area also allows us to produce designs with fluted shafts and a number of features in the pressing upon request from our customers.

Intermittent & Continuous Kilns

MTC Stourport has kilns suitable for most applications. Our large number of continuous tunnel kilns and batch fire kilns ranging from 1420ºC to 1680ºC max firing temperatures are suitable for most product materials. We also have specialist kilns for Silicon Nitride applications including a nitridation furnace and a high temperature vacuum furnace.

Diamond Grinding

MTC Stourport offers a range of grinding alternatives to achieve the desired high specification finish for customer products.

Double sided (face) grinding

Our state-of-the-art, double sided grinders produce exceptional finishes both in terms of the component thickness (typically +/-10mmm) and surface finish (typically better than 0.5mm Ra)

Centreless grinding

MTC Stourport’s centreless grinding expertise originates from our wealth of experience in the shafts and bearings market. Grinding tolerances of +/-10 mm and surface finishes of 0.6-0.8 mm Ra are typical on a wide variety of product lengths and outside diameters.

Bore grinding

For products, such as bearings and plungers, requiring internal surface finishes our bore grinders can achieve tolerances of +/-10 mm grinding and 0.6-0.8 mm Ra surface finish.

Lapping & Polishing

Our copper plate and hard plate polishing techniques can be used to produce excellent quality surface finish and flatness to our ceramic products. This exceptional standard of finish allows us to specialise in supply to the counter-face and valve plate markets for a number of products, ranging from domestic mixer tap plates to specialist seals for medical centrifuge pumps.
